The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command announced the arrest of an accused informant and logistical provider to an abduction and banditry organization terrorizing the FCT and its surrounds.
Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, stated this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
She stated that the suspect, who was apprehended by the anti-kidnapping squad in the Mongoro Forest, was on the command's wanted list.
Mr Adeh, a police superintendent, stated that the suspect was apprehended for his participation in the supply of rifles, ammunition, and other weapons.
She claimed the suspect used a motorcycle to deliver food and illegal narcotics to the crooks in their numerous hideouts in the forests.
Exhibits found from the suspect include an AK47 gun, AK47 ammunition, a mobile phone, food, and an unregistered boxer motorcycle, according to her.
In a similar incident, Mr Adeh stated that the command had arrested 11 people for illegal possession, manufacture, and production of small guns and light weapons, armed robbery, and other crimes.
She stated that the suspects were apprehended and detained by State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) officers in the Zuba area of the FCT.
Mr Adeh stated that four locally produced weapons and one live cartridge were confiscated from the suspects.
According to her, preliminary police investigations revealed that the gang is involved in the manufacture and production of small and light weapons on a local level.
She stated that investigations into the case had been stepped up in order to identify and disrupt the illicit supply chain, as well as arrest other members of the group.

She stated that agents from the Utako Divisional Police Headquarters detained eight suspects on Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery at an Amala Garden in Utako.
Mr Adeh stated that three firearms of various calibers, knives, and hard drugs were confiscated from the suspects who were apprehended after receiving a tip.
