Robert De Niro expressed profound sadness by saying he is“deeply distressed” after his 19-year-old grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, passed away unexpectedly.
Rodriguez, who had established himself as an actor, had notably appeared in the film A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper.
The news of his untimely demise was shared by his mother, Drena De Niro, who conveyed her grief saying, “My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now”
Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, the young actor who tragically passed away, had embarked on his acting journey at a young age, following in the footsteps of his family.
He made his debut in the film industry in 2005 with a role in the movie The Collection.
As he grew older, he became more involved in his craft, and in 2018, he had the opportunity to act alongside his mother in Cabaret Maxime.
That same year, he portrayed the character of Leo Stone in the acclaimed film A Star Is Born.
Leandro had begun to establish himself as a promising talent in the acting world.
De Niro said, “I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo.”in a shared statement with Fox News.
He then added,“We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.”
However, Naomi Campbell also shared his tribute to Leandro, saying,“Drena heartbroken for you, such a duo, I can’t imagine how you must feel, may the lord cover you and hold you in his arms, at this very sad time and loss.”
On July 2nd, the lifeless body of Rodriguez was discovered in an apartment located in New York City.
As of now, an official cause of death has not been determined. However, according to TMZ, the investigation found the presence of both drugs and drug paraphernalia in close proximity to his body.
The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation as authorities seek to shed light on this tragic incident.
