A Lagos State-based blind man was arrested and arraigned in court on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court in Ikeja, ordered the remandment of Francis Ugachukwu, a blind man, to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after it is first hearing on the case.
Ugachukwu was confined by Justice Abiola Soladoye pending a hearing on his bail application and filing.
The accused was arraigned on a single count of defilement.

Abimbola Abolade, the state's attorney for prosecution, testified before the court that the defendant committed the crime at No. 16 Kareem Giwa Street, Abule-Osun, Ojoo, Lagos State, at some point in November 2022.
The crime violated Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws of 2015, according to the prosecutor.
The defendant, however, entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
For a hearing on the bail request and the start of the trial, Soladoye postponed the case to October 18.
