The High Court of Adamawa State has sentenced a 32-year-old man to 21 years in prison after he was found guilty of murder.
The presiding judge, Justice Maxwell T. Pukuma, sitting in Ganye, the headquarter of Ganye Local Government, delivered the judgment after he found the accused murderer, Nuhu Pious, guilty of the crime for which he was charged.
He said the court found him guilty on one count and sentenced him to 21 years imprisonment.

Justice Pukuma determined that the sentence began on the day the defendant was remanded and that there was no possibility for a fine.
On April 14, 2022, the convict was brought in court for culpable homicide and pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution then invited four witnesses to testify in court and submitted a confessional statement, which was rejected following a trial within a trial.
According to the prosecution, Nuhu killed a guy named Gabriel Solomon at a tea shop in Trigali village in the Ganye district on December 7, 2019.
The inmate had a battle with another man. When the deceased tried to separate them and whacked him in the head with a stick, the convict retaliated by stabbing him with a knife, killing him (Gabriel).
Obidah N. Oliver, counsel for the convict, expressed appreciation for the decision and said he will meet with his client to decide whether to appeal the sentence.
